Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

Assist in managing and promoting all aspects of the business including selling, pricing and merchandising the store.  Opening/closing responsibilities.  Promoting a high level of customer service by ensuring customers are assisted in an enthusiastic, timely, and knowledgeable manner. Continually strive for innovative solutions and alternatives in bettering the business. 

 

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. Lead assigned shifts, ensuring that customers are greeted immediately, determine their needs, and handle all transactions in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
  2. Opening and/or closing responsibilities including but not limited to: responsibility for key, opening and closing the store on a timely basis and according to schedule, locking and arming the store, balancing safe log/register counts, opening/closing the till, daily audits and responsibility for making deposits.
  3. Become familiar with products, brands and prices and make recommendations of products, including their features and benefits, to suit customers’ needs.  Maximize sales and customer satisfaction by adding items to the close of the sale.
  4. Buy used product, reinforcing the customers’ purchases and sales to the store.    Invite customers to return to the store with their used items for product to sell; educating the customer about the buy process.
  5. Price and ticket items appropriately based on pricing/buying guidelines.  Restock store following merchandising plan.  Properly backstock product. Maintain store displays and follow store housekeeping and maintenance standards and procedures.
  6. Develop proficiency in operating the point of sale system in the store for all sale transactions.
  7. Achieve personal and store goals by applying sound customer service and sales protocol.
  8. Assist in training new employees with buys, register, tagging and hanging.  As needed and not limited to reviewing and entering in new employees buys.
  9. Accountable for staff during shift to work efficiently, maintain on task, organize appropriate sections, and complete tasks assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Prior retail and /or customer service experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
  2. Ability to work well as a team member and to take and follow directions.
  3. Excellent communication, self management and interpersonal skills.
  4. Sales and goal oriented.
  5. Excellent time management skills, multi-tasking ablitiy and high level of responsibility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1.  Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 8 hours a day.

2.  Lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance.  May involve heavier lifting with assistance     of team member or cart/dolly.

3. Bending, rotating, and reaching customary to a retail environment; including receiving, pricing and stocking/back stocking merchandise.

4. No exposure to hazardous materials or environments.

5. Able to operate a computerized sales terminal.

6. Exposure to typical retail environment conditions and noise levels.
